Would you like to see a blockbuster movie or a public screening of a “Tatort” episode? You can do either in Lingen (Ems). At the Filmpalast Cine World movie theater, the newest films from Hollywood are shown every evening. Its nine auditoriums can seat up to 1,200 moviegoers. It is much more tranquil than the Centralkino theater in the city center. The rustic art house cinema, which is more than 100 years old, shows selected movies: classics, art house movies, and local productions. The highlight of the week is the public viewing of “Tatort” on Sunday evening.
The venerable Theater an der Wilhelmshöhe offers everything a culture-lover could want. Its large auditorium can seat up to 750 people. Opera, jazz, plays, musicals, concerts, light comedy – it can all be enjoyed here. The program includes international stars and local choirs and performers. All the great Lingen traditional festivals have been celebrated in the neighboring Wilhelmshöhe since 1845.
In addition to Wilhelmshöhe, the Burgtheater attracts attention. Young theater pedagogy students let off creative steam and produce their own pieces. In addition to a wide variety of different forms of theater, there are regularly film showings, performances, and readings.
